About me

I am Dieter, DK4QT, since 1969 member of the Radio Club N01 Bielefeld, license since 1970

1969 rebuild a 2nd-hand 80m homebrew SSB transceivers with PL 504 tube for PA  / 80 Watt, later with  PL 509 and

120 Watt output to the dipole antennas

1970 finished my 5 Band SSB/CW homebrew tube transceiver with a pair of 6LC6 for the 300 Watt PA ,

all the time two bands have to be readjusted before use.

1971 first experience with mini-Quads over the roof of a tree storage house in the city

1972 first 3 Element Quad up over the roof is ready and a new word of DX is found

1972 with the help of DK1AQ we developed a PLL-RTTY-Decoder with automatic error correction mode

1972 a Yaesu FT-250 rolls in the shack and band switching is much easier now

1973 first 2m AM QSO with Finland, a new band will be explored

1973 a single 8080 micro controller from USA wends into the shack. First 16KB EPROM and RAM memory cards

are made, Kansas-City data interface are build and HEX code is now the 2nd language.

Christmas eve a Z80 chip is found under the tree and assembler kills the HEX code.

1974 first 2m SSB/CW transceiver with good old  XF9B Xtal-filter is build and tested in 2m contests.

1974 first Z80 RTTY-decoder written in assembler works successful, and the Siemens typewriter is off now.

1974 live is too short for QRP, 6000 Volt plate voltage are good for the new  Valvo QB/1750 and TVI/BCI are new partners.

1974 what's good on KW is good for 2m and 6/40 also 4X150 tubes got familiarly now; 400 Watt on 2m sounds good.

1975 arrival of daughter Kerstin brought me back home from the 2m contest on the hill and Klaus, DJ4PT takes my place

in the team, there was no loss on the QSO rate.

1975 first 15 kg 8-inch disk and new memory horizons are open, good old Kansas-City-Interface retires now.

1976 a 10m telescopic mast in the roof and a cushcraft 3 band ATB34 Beam replaces the Quad.

1976 first  ECB-Bus-Processor-, memory and double 8255-port cards are sold into the market.

1977 new KW Power, KW-PA with 2 x  QB/1750 is finished and QSO rates are increasing dramatically.

1977 a SWAN 550 SX-16 transceiver with 550 Watt output is found to drive the QB's PA to new horizons.

1977 son Andreas makes the family complete and finishing all the studies is now necessary.

1978 the new engineers live and job takes more and more time from my amateur live.

1978 on the other hand a brand new Drake TR7 is possible now.

1979 pacific is empty now all island are in the log, 325 countries are confirmed.

1979 development of electronic and mechanical equipments are now paid by the factory but it's no more good radio stuff.

Sure really not uninteresting tings and paid not too bad.

1982 moved on the top of the Teutonic Woods only one neighbour and we are good friends in days.

1982 a Versa tower is needed and found.

1984 a 2nd tower and a 2 element 40m beam must be

1985 a full-size 80m GP looks very good and 60 radials are in the ground. Ohh see, 80m is really a dx-band!.

1988 lost the 40m beam in ice-rain and changed into a 40m GP

1991 more beam, a KT34-XA is now up on the tower.

1992 tower 3 with a 15m-monoband beam enjoying the radio ham

1993 PA power changed into an Ameritron 1200X. The QB's are retired now.

1993-2000 no more time for ham radio but friends using the station for contesting.

2001-2004 a second hand house, moving into a nearby village, part wise rebuilding the house and no time for the radio.

2005- new start with a little tower  2m / 70 cm / 23cm Yagis and experience with a new quad antenna lets look hopeful into

           ham future.

2006- time to be a profi ham, lets see what's going on.
